WHAT ARE THE TAX BENEFITS OF GIVING APPRECIATED MARKETABLE SECURITIES?

Giving stocks, bonds, or mutual funds that have increased in value is very advantageous. If you have held the assets more than one year, capital gains tax is avoided on sale of the assets, and the gift is tax deductible as a charitable contribution at its current market value if you itemize.

HOW CAN I MAKE A STOCK CONTRIBUTION TO SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH?

If you wish to give marketable securities to Second Baptist Church, please call Sherry Richardson or Rich Miller at 417.887.3111 to get our brokerage information for electronic transfers or make arrangements to transfer stock certificates. In order for us to properly give credit for the contribution, please notify us of the number of shares and the name of the stock or fund you are transferring. Also, please let us know whether you want your gift designated to the General Operating Budget, Financially Free, World Missions Offering, or U2PG. You may also email Rich Miller for more information.

WHAT IF I WOULD LIKE TO NAME THE CHURCH IN MY WILL OR TRUST?

A gift included in your will or living trust may establish a lasting legacy. A gift like this may be designated as a specific amount or percentage of your estate. Please tell your estate planning attorney the legal name of the church is The Second Baptist Church of Springfield, Missouri. If you would like to name the church in your estate plan, and want to discuss ways to leave a legacy or an endowment for a specific area of the church, please call Rich Miller at 417.887.3111.
